The two African nations did not need to play their final qualifying matches.
As qualifying for the next African Cup of Nations (December 21, 2025-January 18, 2026 in Morocco) draws to a close, two new teams have just qualified for the continent’s premier competition. Ivory Coast, outgoing winner at home, and Equatorial Guinea, quarter-finalist in the 2024 edition, did not need to play their last matches in order to reach the final phase.
The Elephants, first in their group, witnessed the draw between Sierra Leone and Chad (1-1), which definitively prevents the two teams from reaching first place. As for Equatorial Guinea, located in the group of Algeria (already qualified), the victory of Liberia against Togo (1-0) ensured its qualification, while the nation of the illustrious Georges Weah has 4 points (-4) and Equatorial Guinea 7 points (0).
The others qualified: Morocco, Egypt, Algeria, Angola, Democratic Republic of Congo, Cameroon, Burkina Faso and Senegal.
