Tuesday night, the New Jersey Devils and the Florida Panthers faced each other, and the young Devils had the upper hand over the Stanley Cup champions 4-1. During this intense and emotional fight, Jack Hughes threaded the needle and Dougie Hamilton and Jesper Bratt each collected two assists.
On the other hand, what caught the attention was the SOLID boxing fight between Brenden Dillon and Jonah Gadjovich. We are talking here about a fight between two heavyweights, two tough guys, one of whom is 6 feet 4 (Dillon) and the other 6 feet 3 (Gadjovich). Let’s say that the hammer blows were distributed to whoever better.
Look at how the blows are delivered like clubs!
This session took place right in the middle of the second period, when the score indicated 1-1 and the throws 20 versus 7 in favor of the Cats. But, in the end, the Devils escaped with success, despite the Panthers dominating in several facets, in faceoffs, bodychecks and special teams.
In the end, the Devils can certainly say thank you to their goaltender Jacob Markstrom, who was masterful in this duel. Thanks to Markstrom’s prowess, the Devils stopped the winning streak of Paul Maurice’s men at seven. Note that, during this setback, Sam Reinhart scored his 12th goal of the current campaign, thus remaining at the top of the circuit scorers with Cole Caufield and Leon Draisaitl.
The Panthers will be able to recover quickly against the Devils, while the two clubs will fight again this Thursday, once again on the Sunrise side.
