The Eagles of Mali have called on reinforcements for the matches against Mozambique and Eswatini in the CAN 2025 qualifiers.
The team of Mali will deal with a reduced attack during the clash at the top of Group I against the Mambas of Mozambique (tied with 8 points), Friday in Maputo, then on November 19 against Eswatini in Bamako, for the 5th and 6th qualifying days at the CAN 2025. Coach Tom Saintfiet finds himself with fewer options on the left wing following the withdrawals of Moussa Djenepo (Antalyaspor) and Lassine Sinayoko (Auxerre).
Two reinforcements in defense
The defensive sector, on the other hand, should not suffer from a lack of personnel. Since, not only Sikou Niakaté (Braga), initially announced uncertain, will travel with the delegation, but the full-back Amadou Dante (Arouca), appointed replacement for Moussa Diarra, forfeited, and the central Ibrahima Cissé of FC Schalke 04 have also were called in for reinforcement.
The latter, aged 23, therefore makes a second appearance in the nest after his first summons during the previous truce. Which is not the case for Dante (24 years old), selected for the first time by Saintfiet, and who marks his return for the first time since mid-June.
Like the MozambiqueMali aspires to win in order to secure its ticket for the CAN in order to approach its last match with the least pressure. In the first leg in Bamako, at the opening of the qualifiers, the two teams neutralized each other with a score of 1-1. Yves Bissouma in the 52nd responded to Geny Catamo’s opener in the 37th.
