Noah Fadiga will have a defibrillator implanted as a preventative measure after a thorough examination in hospital, following his collapse during the match against Standard last Sunday. His club, La Gantoise, has indicated that he suffers from myocarditis.
“Noah Fadiga has been examined extensively in recent days after briefly losing consciousness during the match against Standard last Sunday. Investigations revealed that Noah had developed scar tissue on the heart muscle following myocarditis, an inflammation following a viral infection,” informs La Gantoise.
According to the club, “myocarditis can cause a heart rhythm disorder, which is what actually happened to Noah last Sunday.” “This condition is completely new to Noah and has nothing to do with his family history. A possible hereditary problem had already been ruled out a year and a half ago and myocarditis can occur in anyone,” says Noah Fadiga’s club.
According to the Belgian club, the rest of Noah’s career is not threatened. “He will now undergo appropriate treatment and will also have a defibrillator implanted as a precautionary measure. Cardiologist Pedro Brugada is Fadiga’s attending physician,” explains La Gantoise.
