The Lausanne Hockey Club is pleased to announce the contract extension of Antti Suomela (30 years old) until the end of the 2026-27 season (2 seasons).
Arriving in Lausanne in the summer of 2023, our number 11 did not need much time to adapt to the National League. The LHC’s most prolific player since his arrival, Antti is one of the great architects of the Lions’ last excellent season and the good start to the current year. With 71 points scored (including 23 goals and 48 assists) in 88 games played, he has become an essential part of the Lausanne Hockey Club. Greatly satisfied, both parties agreed to extend the adventure for two additional seasons.
Antti Suomela: “When I signed for Lausanne, I immediately felt that we could do something as a team. Last year showed us that we had the ability to go far when we got to Game 7. Over time, I was able to see that appetite comes with eating and now that we have tasted that, we want more . Personally, I feel very good in Lausanne with my girlfriend. The matches at the Vaudoise Arena are incredible thanks to our audience. We have the best fans in the National League and their support is so strong in the rink. It’s always more pleasant to play in front of such an audience. I’m really happy to have signed my contract extension and to commit to the Lions for the next two seasons. I will give everything for the team and the fans, go LHC. »
John Fust – Sports Director : “It is very good news for the organization to be able to count on Antti Suomela as one of the bases of our future projects. He is one of the best center players in the National League who understands that the team’s success comes from his ability to play both ways. He is a leader on the ice and in the locker room who puts himself perfectly at the service of the collective. »
