Red Devils: bad news about El Ouadhi

Announced close to Benfica last summer, Zakaria El Ouadhi ultimately stayed at Genk. Good news for the Limburg club which can count on its young right-back for a few more months.

Thanks to his good performances, El Ouadhi was able to compete in the Olympic Games with Morocco last summer. A great source of pride for the former RWDW player, who then thought he would be called up to the Moroccan A team. But for the moment, the Genkois does not seem to be part of Walid Regragui’s plans.

Questioned at a press conference, Domenico Tedesco declared that El Ouadhi was an interesting player and that he was well and truly followed.

“I think he has already made his choice”

Peter Vandenbempt, however, believes that the coach of the Devils should let go of the affair with the Genkois: “I think it’s a lost cause. In my opinion, he has already chosen Morocco. He has already experienced great things with his teammates at the OJ.”

Filip Joos and Franck Boeckx are of the same opinion: “According to my information, he especially wants to put pressure on the Moroccan federation. I think his heart will choose Morocco.”

Smets spoke with El Ouadhi

Matte Smets, his teammate at Genk, was also asked about this: “I spoke with Zakaria, but I don’t know if it’s possible to convince him. I would have liked to have him with us but it’s It’s up to him to make his choice.”
