A residence employee takes more than $6,000 from a senior

Blanchette, 50, admitted her guilt to having defrauded a lady between June and July 2022, when the latter was 75 years old.

According to the facts presented Monday at the Trois-Rivières courthouse by Me Martine Tessier, lawyer for the prosecution, it was the victim’s brother who discovered the pot aux roses.

This man takes care of his sister. He has access to his bank statements. He noticed two transactions that caught his attention and prompted him to contact authorities.

Blanchette admitted to having found two blank checks signed by the victim’s handwriting. She used them a few months later. She made them out in the name of a dental center and a hearing aid business and then deposited them into her own account.

The financial institution has authorized the money transfers. The fraud totaled $6,193, but the victim was compensated by his financial institution.

According to Me Jessy Bélanger, her client quickly admitted to the police that she had taken this money. Nancy Blanchette did this to get out of a bad financial situation. She was pressured to repay a loan quickly.

Me Bélanger added that her client feels a lot of remorse for the actions she committed.

The defense lawyer requested the preparation of a pre-sentence report, a request ratified by Judge Annie Vanasse. This will be at the heart of the observations on the sentence which will take place on March 10.
