A legend’s farewell to Manchester United after having rendered proud service – All football

Ruud Van Nistelrooy will leave Manchester United. The former striker, who temporarily replaced Erik ten Hag, will not stay at the club once Ruben Amorim arrives.

Following the dismissal of Erik ten Hag, Ruud Van Nistelrooy (48 years old), who became his deputy this summer, had taken over as interim officer while awaiting the arrival of Ruben Amorim from Sporting Portugal. It is now time for him to give up his place, Amorim taking office during this international break.

And Van Nistelrooy, if he is a true Old Trafford legend, did not find a place in the staff of the new Red Devils coach. The club announced his departure, just 6 months after his arrival. Van Nistelrooy hails this brief return to the club as “a magnificent moment”.

The Dutchman’s tenure was successful as Van Nistelrooy won 3 matches and drew 1, leaving undefeated as head coach of Manchester United. Enough, perhaps, to relaunch his career as head coach.

Before joining the Ten Hag staff, Van Nistelrooy managed PSV Eindhoven during the 2022-2023 season, winning the Dutch Cup and finishing 2nd in the Eredivisie. However, he then went a year without finding a job.

Recently, Dimitri De Condé revealed that he had been very close to attracting the Dutch legend at the head of KRC Genk to succeed Wouter Vrancken… but had ultimately backed down. He explained the reasons here.
