De Condé announces: here is the winter transfer window for KRC Genk

KRC Genk are in excellent form this season, with an autumn title already in their pocket. In Limburg, title hopes are naturally high. But what is the club planning for the January transfer window? Head of football Dimitri De Condé has provided details on Genk’s transfer plans.

No major departures planned at Genk

Racing Genk sold several executives a year ago, a move that De Condé deemed financially necessary to reduce the club’s annual deficit, thanks to income from transfers or European competitions.

For example, Paul Onuachu left the club last year in a particular context: present for 3.5 years, old and eager to play in the championship of his dreams. On the other hand, this year, Genk does not plan to let key elements leave in January 2025. “We do not intend to sell any major players. Internally, everyone is determined to maintain the workforce until next summer,” said De Condé.

A comfortable financial situation

However, as with any Belgian club, an exceptional offer could change the situation. Genk have made significant sales in recent years, and the transfer of Mike Penders to Chelsea, for 20 million euros, brought financial margin. The recent sale of the club, estimated at around €90 million, also provides strong financial support.
