After a week without a match due to an international break, the LHC Lions will return to their home at the Vaudoise Aréna this Tuesday, November 12 with the reception of the Genève-Servette HC players for the first leg of the Champions Hockey League round of 16. After this Lake Geneva derby, the LHC will then host the ZSC Lions on Thursday November 14 before traveling the next day to the BOSSARD Arena to face EV Zug.
During this November break, most of our Lions were able to take advantage of a few days without competition to recharge their batteries and treat minor injuries. Our international players will be back today in Vaud after a few international matches:
- Damien Riat and Théo Rochette took part in the three Karjala Cup meetings with Patrick Fischer’s Swiss team. After losing in overtime to Finland, the Swiss players defeated Sweden in the penalty shootout before losing to the Czech Republic. Individually, Damien Riat made two assists during the tournament and scored one of the winning shots against Sweden. An exercise which seems to be successful for our Lions since the other shot on goal was scored by Théo Rochette.
- Ahti Oksanen took part in two matches of the same Karjala Cup with Finland. Passer against Switzerland, our number 29 was unable to finish his team’s second match after a strong charge from a Czech player. Back in Lausanne, medical examinations are currently underway.
- Gael Haas was called up to the Swiss U18 team and played the four matches scheduled in Tabor in the Czech Republic. Our young defender was the only scorer for his team during the opposition against the American selection.
