Alpine F1’s experience was in the spotlight for its exemplary result at the Sao Paulo Grand Prix last week.
A chaotic round in Brazil ended with a double podium for the duo Esteban Ocon and Pierre Gasly.
It was an unexpected but brilliant result for Alpine F1 who have been forced to battle in the 2nd half of the field recently.
“Extraordinary, absolutely extraordinary,” says Mark Webber, former F1 driver and consultant for Channel 4.
“When you have such a long season in this middle pack – Haas, RB F1, Red Bull’s sister team, Aston Martin – when these big days come and you make big catches in terms of results, you make such a big difference in championship positions.”
“They moved up to sixth place from 8th.”
“Their two experienced, old and wise heads – it’s very interesting. Esteban and Pierre did the job. The car seemed comfortable to drive for them in the rain, the team made the right decisions.”
“The operational experience – that was important. The sporting regulations are important things too, and Alpine F1 has mastered both aspects perfectly.”
