“Emma’s arrival motivated me a lot!”

His favorites and current topics

During our meeting, the Liégeois took part in a unique exercise: imagining the subjects he would tackle as editor-in-chief one day. He shares with us his thoughts on four current issues that are close to his heart.

1. The Masters in Turin: without Djokovic, a suspenseful competition

David Goffin has not hidden his enthusiasm for the next Turin Masters, a competition that he will follow closely. With the absence of Novak Djokovic this year, he sees Yannick Sinner and Carlos Alcaraz as the big favorites to lift the trophy. “Sinner is the favorite for me, closely followed by Alcaraz. Their duel for the Grand Slams this year was fascinating, and it will be exciting to see who stands out to close this season full of intense matches,” he confided, recalling that other great players, like Alexander Zverev, have also shone recently.

2. The floods in Valencia: a tragedy that affects him closely

The second topic is the tragedy of the floods in Valencia. This natural disaster had a profound impact on him. “The videos I saw shocked me. There were several victims, and Valencia is a city that I know well. I have trained there often, and I know a lot of people from this region. “It’s a shocking event,” he added. This disaster reminds him of the environmental challenges we all face and the importance of supporting regions affected by such disasters.

3. Belgian fries week: a nod to Belgian culture

With humor, Goffin included a completely original subject: Belgian fries, celebrated in Wallonia until November 15. As a Belgian, he could not miss this national tradition.

“Being Belgian, I obviously like fries,” he joked, highlighting this culinary specialty that brings Belgians together and is part of their identity. A great opportunity to celebrate this institution with lightness!

4. Standard de Liège: the unwavering support of a Liégeois

Finally, he expressed his support for Standard Liège, whose last victory against Sint-Truiden gave hope to the supporters. “As a Liégeois and supporter of Standard, I am happy with their success and I hope they continue this momentum. They need these victories for morale,” he added enthusiastically. His attachment to the club illustrates his deep connection with his hometown and his favorite club.
