“The two best teams in the championship will battle it out on Sunday!”

Has anyone ever been bored at a Union game? Rarely, never? So perhaps we should stop presenting this team as one of the great disappointments of the season. We don’t go to the stadium just for the result, which even the neutral viewer, a DAZN customer, addicted to the pay channel, doesn’t care about.

Some teams have more points, of course, even many more in the European Cup, but what have they shown? Not much, it must be admitted…

But after the Europe League and, whatever people say, a very good draw, 1-1, against AS Rome, return to the Jupiler Pro League on Sunday (6:30 p.m.) at Parc Duden, for Sébastien’s Unionists Pocognoli.

The latter will even find himself facing his old colors, for the moment at the highest level in our championship.

He played for Racing Limbourgeoise (50 first team matches, 1 goal, 4 assists) from 2003 to 2007, and coached the club’s U18s and U19s.

The match is therefore obviously close to his heart, despite the fact that it promises to be as complicated as could be.

“Yes” he confirms. “It’s a shock where the two best teams in the championship will oppose each other, those who offer the best football, in any case. Which will delight the neutral spectator…”

“I am proud to have been able to train these players…”

“Playing against Genk remains special for me,” admits Poco. “So I’m looking forward to Erik Lambrechts’ kick-off. A lot of faces will still be familiar to me, and there are also young people that I trained who are now in the A team. I’m proud to have been able to contribute to their development, and to see them today measuring themselves against the greatest…”

After only three victories (1-0 against Beerschot and Charleroi, 3-0 against Kortrijk) in thirteen days, it is now time for the Union to celebrate a fourth.

Why not Sunday against Genk.

“Yes, why not,” agrees Pocognoli. It’s a good move to try, in any case. We promise a lot of intensity to the fall champions who we will face with the will to win. We have always played well at home, except for the fatal quarter of an hour against Cercle de Bruges (1-3).”

Which allows us to aim for three points against Genk…”

There is no problem Moris!

After Mechelen and Rome, Anthony Moris didn’t necessarily have a very good night.

“Mistakes are part of the life of a player, and even more particularly of a goalkeeper,” comments Pocognoli, who does not intend to send his captain back to the bench.

“Anthony has a lot of experience, and will want to turn the page on Sunday, show what he can do. He has been here for several seasons, and performs at a high level. He is professional enough to concentrate and not worrying too much about what happened,” says Pocognoli.
