Martin St-Louis did not lose his locker room, except that…

With five consecutive defeats and a defensive system that impresses no one, the Montreal Canadiens are in hot water, but don’t think that this can endanger the job of Martin St-Louis.

At least that’s what Jean-Charles Lajoie and Tony Marinaro think, who condemned the rumors suggesting that the head coach no longer had the support of his players.

“Martin St-Louis, we can say what we want, but he has not lost his locker room. I would like him to get angry from time to time,” said Lajoie during the ColiseumFriday at JiC.

“We’re not there yet,” he added. That doesn’t mean it isn’t contested. The players remain behind him, but are against the plan, against the system. “This system doesn’t work, and players don’t like trying to run this system because it exposes them to errors.”

According to the host, the defensive system advocated by St-Louis would only work with seasoned veterans, something the Canadian is not counting on at the moment.

For Marinaro, it’s the instructor’s body language that says a lot. Thursday night during the game against the New Jersey Devils, St-Louis looked discouraged by the referees’ questionable decision to penalize Mike Matheson.

“Martin, I think he needs to improve his body language,” Marinaro said. Very often he looks discouraged, a little disappointed. We see him against the bay window, leaning over or making faces.”

Will St. Louis’ season continue to be long or will it end abruptly?
