Danilo Del Toro: “Playing at Neuchâtel Xamax was one of the greatest experiences of my career”

Danilo Del Toro wants to start his season against Neuchâtel Xamax. The “red and black” football club will reunite with its former midfielder on Friday when it faces Vaduz in the Challenge League. Arriving this summer in Lichtenstein, the Schaffhausen is struggling at the start of the season. In 12 matches, he has only scored one goal and signed two small assists: a ratio far from these usual standards. “I know I can do much better. I haven’t found my best form,” he admits of his own accord. Danilo Del Toro therefore hopes to get back on track this evening against Xamax, but he knows that it will not be an easy task. “I see a lot of Neuchâtel matches, almost all of them to be honest, I find that they have an excellent mix of young and experienced players,” analyzes Danilo Del Toro.

A very strong bond

Having left La Maladière this summer, Danilo Del Toro does not hide his love for the “red and black” club. “Playing at Neuchâtel Xamax was one of the greatest experiences of my career. My two years there were magnificent,” he exclaims enthusiastically.

No question of being sentimental on Friday at RheinPark. Uli Forte’s squad needs to reassure itself after last week’s slap against Wil 4-1 at La Maladière. Not sure, however, that Vaduz is the ideal opponent to get back in the saddle. After a complicated start to the season, the Liechtenstein team has regained momentum. She also remains in five matches without defeat. “We found defensive stability. We conceded too many goals, too many stupid goals and it killed us in the match,” explains Danilo Del Toro.

For this meeting, Neuchâtel Xamax will have to do without the services of Angelo Campos, Salim Ben Seghir and Roland Ndongo who are injured. After receiving a new yellow card against Wil, Samir Ramizi will be suspended.

Vaduz – Neuchâtel Xamax, it’s a match live on RTN from 8:00 p.m.
