Andi Zeqiri signed for Standard de Liège this summer. The Swiss international is having a blast at Sclessin.
This summer, Andi Zeqiri was at the heart of a small soap opera at the end of the transfer window. The Swiss striker from Genk was in fact between Charleroi and Standard.
Very close to committing to Charleroi, Zeqiri finally decided to sign on loan with Rouches. He explained this choice in an interview for the RTBF.
“I spoke with Mehdi Bayat, it’s true, but I immediately felt that it was Standard that I needed. Standard is fire! It’s joy, it’s That’s the motivation. I had already come to Sclessin with Genk… but to experience that every two weeks, what fun!”
“A stadium on fire is so much more motivating when you’re a player. And even when you’re away, our fans follow us: knowing that they will always be there with us is just great.”
He then showed his ambitions with Standard this season. “If we aim for the Top 6? Obviously! We always have to look upwards and strive for the maximum. But let’s be realistic, it’s not going to be easy. The team is being built, step by step: we started with the defensive foundations, and on this level, we are good.”
