According to l'Equipe, Stade Brestois could play its first Champions League knockout matches at the Stade de France in February. This hypothesis depends on several factors. Currently, Brest has a 99% chance, according to Opta, of participating in the play-offs thanks to its victory against Sparta Prague (2-1).
Breton wave of 80,000 people?
Which raises the question of the enclosure to accommodate the people of Brest. UEFA imposes higher standards at this stage of the competition. Playing at Roudourou, in Guingamp, would require expensive work, reducing capacity to 15,000 places. This would lead to financial losses, despite the income generated by their current performances (€7.05 million). Roazhon Park, in Rennes, could be an alternative, but it would also require adjustments. The Stade de France option is therefore gaining momentum. Already used by Lille in 2005-2006, this approved and spacious stadium could accommodate Breton supporters in large numbers.
