The Football Observatory (CIES) has published its ranking of the most expensive under-21 players in the world, and without much surprise, Lamine Yamalthe nugget of FC Barcelonasits at the head of the podium. The young Spanish prodigy, of Moroccan origin, sees his value estimated at
180.9 million eurosan impressive figure which places it well ahead of its competitors.
Alejandro Garnacho (Manchester United) et
Warren Zaire-Emery (Paris Saint-Germain) complete the top three, with respective values of
114.8 million euros et 109 million euros. These young talents are part of the new generation which should mark the future of world football.
The ranking, which is very competitive, also sees the presence of talents like Savinho (Manchester City) et
João Neves (Paris Saint-Germain), with values estimated at 101 million euros et 99.8 million eurosrespectively, approaching
Zaire-Emery.
As for the French players, Mathys Tel
(Bayern Munich) et Leny Yoro (Manchester United) stand out, respectively ranked 15th and 18th, with values of 58.1 million euros et
54.5 million euros.
Finally, among the best African players in the ranking,
Carlos Baleba (Brighton) is the most valued. He occupies the 20ᵉ place with a value of
52.1 million euroshighlighting the emergence of new talents on the continent.
An important element to remember is that Lamine Yamaldespite his Moroccan roots, turned his back on the Moroccan team at the last moment to opt for the Spanish selection. This choice was a hard blow for Morocco, which would undoubtedly have benefited from his notoriety, especially now that the young player is officially the most expensive of his generation. Yamal’s decision, although having made La Roja happy, deprives Morocco of the opportunity to see one of its most promising talents wear the national jersey and to benefit from the media impact of his meteoric rise .
