The Rwandan national basketball team has already started its preparation in Kigali, at the Amahoro Stadium, as part of the next window of the Afrobasket 2025 qualifiers, which is scheduled to begin on November 22 in Dakar. Under the direction of Senegalese Dr Cheikh Sarr, former coach of the Lionesses, his assistants Yves Murenzi and Kenny Gasana, the team has been in residential training since November 1, informs ground-sports.
The Men’s National Team is currently training intensively at the Petit Stade and camping at the Kigali Delight Hotel, with two sessions per day.
Rwanda is in Group C of the Afrobasket 2025 qualifiers, alongside Senegal, Cameroon and Gabon. The team will leave Kigali on November 17 for Dakar, where they will face the host country in the opening match on November 22. She will then play against Cameroon on November 23 and Gabon on November 24.
Senegal hosts the first window of Groups A and C from November 22-24, while the venue for the second window has not yet been confirmed. There are five groups in total, and the top three teams from each group will qualify to join hosts Angola to complete the tournament’s roster of 16 teams.
