Neymar made his return just a few weeks ago after a year of absence. But this Monday, he came out injured… and Al Hilal would have had enough.
At the end of October, it was the long-awaited big moment for Neymar : after a year of absence following a total rupture of the meniscus and ligament, the Brazilian made his return under the colors of Al Hilal, the Saudi club for which he signed last year.
But Neymar’s return only lasted… two short matches. This Monday, during Al Hilal’s match against Esteghlal in the Asian Champions League, the 32-year-old Brazilian star was only able to play for half an hour and had to leave, a victim of what he claimed just be a big cramp.
Unfortunately for Neymar, this “cramp” actually turns out to be… a tear in the ischio of his right leg. This is what the scanners revealed, and what Al Hilal confirmed via its networks. The Brazilian international will therefore be out for 4 to 6 weeks, at least – and given his medical history, this is very worrying.
Can Neymar even return to being even a shadow of the player he once was? Obviously, in Saudi Arabia, we doubt it. Indeed, the Saudi media Ma3 Waleed claims that Al Hilal would have had enough of the Neymar “case” and would consider getting rid of him this January transfer window.
It would be a huge failure for the player as well as for the club, Neymar having joined Saudi Arabia with the label of absolute star who was to serve as standard bearer for the national championship. He has so far only been able to play 7 matches for Al Hilal…
