Our series
-
The tenth edition of the Vendée Globe begins on Sunday in Les Sables-d’Olonne.
-
With 40 boats at the start, the famous solo sailing trip around the world without stopovers or assistance recorded the highest participation in its history.
-
Three Swiss are there: the Genevans Alan Roura and Justine Mettraux as well as the Zuricher Oliver Heer.
In a few days, the online cartography of the Vendée Globe will appear in the favorites of our internet browser. Every day, every hour, we will cling to these 2D roads, these multi-colored snakes; we will observe the planisphere and the boats with nervous bows. We will imagine the tense trajectories, the physical and mental demands of the competition.
There will be 40 sailors – 34 men and 6 women, aged 23 to 65 – this Sunday at the gunshot. Forty to experience this tenth edition of the legendary solo sailing trip around the world without stopovers or assistance, a record: there were only 33 4 years ago. The Swiss delegation will be the largest after that of France with three skippers. Justine Mettraux (TeamWork-Team SNEF), Alan Roura (Hublot) and Oliver Heer (Tut Gut. Sailing) will compete at a sporting level which promises to be particularly high.
