Hockey: Canada revealed the list of 25 players selected for the Rivalry Series

The first match of the Rivalry Series will be presented this evening at 10 p.m. on RDS2.

Hockey Canada has announced the names of the 25 players who will wear the Canadian Women’s National Team during the first three games of the 2024-2025 Rivalry Series against the United States, which begins this evening in San Jose, California.

Three goaltenders, eight defensemen and fourteen forwards were selected by general manager Gina Kingsbury, head coach Troy Ryan and senior manager of player development and scouting Cherie Piper.

Star player Marie-Philip Poulin and goalkeeper Ann-Renée Desbiens, both representatives of the Victoire de Montréal in the LPHF, are the only Quebecers selected for these meetings.

“We’re only six months away from the 2025 IIHF Women’s World Championship, and these first three games will give us a good look at our depth,” Kingsbury explained. We are talking about two teams who know each other very well, but that does not prevent us from continuing the work started during the September camp. It’s about properly evaluating our team, now and throughout the season. »

The list of players includes 21 who won Canada’s 13th gold medal at the 2024 IIHF World Women’s Championship (Ambrose, Bell, Bourbonnais, Campbell, Clark, Desbiens, Fast, Fillier, J. Gosling, Jenner , Larocque, Maltais, Maschmeyer, Nurse, O’Neill, Poulin, Rattray, Serdachny, Shelton, Stacey, Turnbull).

Chloe Primerano and Daryl Watts will be making their debuts with the women’s national team.

It is in the Maritimes that the Rivalry Series will conclude next February. The penultimate duel will be played on Thursday, February 6 at the Scotiabank Centre, home of the Halifax Mooseheads in the Maritimes Quebec Junior Hockey League (QMJHL). The teams will then travel to Summerside, Prince Edward Island, and will square off at Credit Union Place, home of the Summerside Western Capitals of the Maritime Hockey League (MHL), on Saturday, February 8 .
