Canadian: Oliver Kapanen returns to Sweden

The Montreal Canadiens loaned forward Oliver Kapanen to Timra IK in Sweden and recalled forward Lucas Condotta from the Rocket on Wednesday before embarking on a four-game trip.

After earning a position on the Habs roster during camp, Kapanen played 12 games with the team and recorded two assists.

The Canadian’s second-round pick in 2021, 64th overall, Kapanen will therefore continue his development within the team of which his father is the general manager and former NHL player Olli Jokinen is the head coach.

For his part, Condotta has four assists in nine games with the Rocket this season. He still hasn’t played with the Canadian this fall.

The 27-year-old Ontario native has one goal in four career NHL games, all played with the Canadian.

The Habs (4-7-2) have lost their last four games (0-3-1). He suffered a 3-2 overtime loss against the Calgary Flames on Tuesday night at the Bell Centre.

He will visit the New Jersey Devils on Thursday, then the Toronto Maple Leafs on Saturday, the Buffalo Sabers on Monday, and finally the Minnesota Wild next Thursday.
