Nino Niederreiter celebrated the 900th game of his NHL career in the best possible way on Tuesday. The Grison scored a double in the Winnipeg Jets’ new success against Utah (3-0).
Niederreiter, 32, confirmed the victory of the Canadian franchise in the third period. He first showed great class to beat the opposing goalkeeper Karel Vejmelka on the break, before adding to the score in the empty cage.
These two goals, the 6th and 7th of the exercise, logically earned him the first star. A great reward for his 900th regular season match (992nd including the play-offs) in the most prestigious ice hockey league in the world
Arriving in Manitoba in 2023, Niederreiter is currently experiencing one of the most successful periods of his career in North America, having also visited New York, Minnesota, Carolina and Nashville. After 13 matches, he already has 12 points, like the number of victories of his team which has only lost once.
Fiala scores again
Kevin Fiala also managed to shake the net on Tuesday, during Los Angeles’ victory over the Minnesota Wild (5-1). The Saint-Welsh striker scored the Kings 2-1 in the second period in power play, his 7th goal of the season.
No point, however, for Pius Suter, who still won with the Vancouver Canucks against the Anaheim Ducks (5-1). Janis Moser and Tampa Bay conceded a third defeat in a row by losing 3-2 in Saint-Louis.
