Tuesday in the NHL | Maple Leafs defeat Bruins 4-0

(Toronto) Morgan Rielly opened the scoring in the second period and the Toronto Maple Leafs defeated the Boston Bruins 4-0 on Tuesday.

Posted at 10:43 p.m.

Rielly, who totaled three points, scored his 84e career goal, ranking fifth in Maple Leafs history among defensemen ahead of Tomas Kaberle and Bryan McCabe (83).

Anthony Stolarz signed his ninth career shutout and his first since April 9, with the Florida Panthers.

Just like Rielly, William Nylander and Matthew Knies threaded the needle on the power play to give the Maple Leafs a 3-0 lead, who avoided a third loss in a row. Steven Lorentz finished the score in an empty net in the third period.

The Bruins had won the previous eight games against their Ontario rivals. Jeremy Swayman didn’t help extend that streak, giving up three times on 26 shots.
