A disturbing scene occurred Tuesday in the St. Louis Blues game, who are visiting the Tampa Bay Lightning.
Dylan Holloway was taken to hospital after being shot in the neck.
At the very end of the first period, the Blues forward stood up in front of Nick Paul to block his throw and he was hit in the neck on the right side. Nothing seemed out of the ordinary at the time as he continued the sequence for several seconds, even rushing to the net for a scoring chance.
When he returned to the bench, however, number 81 had to be taken care of by medical staff, who placed him on a stretcher to take him out. The period ended prematurely with just over a minute remaining on the clock.
Doctors gave an update later, reassuring that his airway was not blocked and that he was fine. There’s no swelling, but they’ll still do a scan.
His parents were there for the game and accompanied him to the hospital.
The match is still in progress.
