The fight of the boxer (12-1, 1 KO) from Témiscouata against the Argentinian Claudia Andre Lopez (26-17, 6 KOs) was refused by the Régie des alcools, des courses and games (RACJ). Lopez was apparently sitting on the plane when she learned that the Régie would not allow her to face Beaudoin.

“I tried everything to get her to box, but I can’t blame the Régie for its refusal,” said the president of Eye of the Tiger Management, Camille Estephan. It’s supposed to be as balanced fights as possible and they saw it as potentially dangerous for the other girl and I don’t disagree.”

“Once I heard the reasoning, I said to myself that the Régie is right. She was the fourth girl we tried. There were two opponents who got injured.”

Not easy

We can say that despite his title acquired in Quebec last August, Beaudoin is not having an easy year.

“This is the second time this has happened this year and we know what efforts the boxers put into their training camp,” Estephan underlines about the cancellation of the fight.

However, he believes that Beaudoin will get back up and take advantage of the next challenge that comes her way.

“Life hits hard sometimes, the real champions get back on track. It’s certain that she will have to grieve in the coming days, she is disappointed, but she will get back on track.”

Based in Germany, but Cuban by origin, Iglesias is not used to hanging around the ring. This will be his fourth fight in Canada, and his first three fights lasted an average of one round, fights which he won by knockout.

“I’m not looking for a knockout, it’s just happening, but I’m ready for 12 rounds. We are two lions who want to confront each other,” underlined the man of few words.
