Montreux HC did better than defend itself at the Eurockey Cup at the end of last week. The young Vaudois reached the quarter-finals, and ranked seventh in this tournament welcoming the continental elite of teams under 15 years old.
Montreux HC U15 coach Bruno Fañanás told us: he hoped his team would get out of their group. She will have done much better during the Eurockey Cup last weekend in Lloret de Mar, Spain. The Vaudois were only eliminated in the quarter-finals of this sort of rink-hockey “Champions League”, facing one of the best teams on the continent, Benfica Lisbon, with a score of 6-0.
« It was a little unexpected to qualify from the second group match », testifies Bruno Fañanás. “ The defeat in the quarterfinals was truly honorable. » The adventure was therefore unforgettable for the Vaudois, who took seventh place in the competition.
Only small hiccup: the return trip was complicated, due to the meteorological disaster which affected the Valencia region. The Montreusian delegation in the South-East of Spain was indirectly affected by these events, as Bruno Fañanás tells us.
Coaches, players and parents were all able to return to Switzerland safely.
