Morocco wins the Tour international du Faso for the 6th time – Today Morocco

Moroccan cyclist Mouhcine Kouraji was crowned winner, Sunday in Ouagadougou, of the 35th edition of the International Tour of Burkina Faso, allowing Morocco to win this international competition for the sixth time. The winner’s yellow jersey was presented to the Moroccan cyclist by the president of the transition of Burkina Faso, Captain Ibrahim Traoré, who chaired the official prize-giving ceremony at the end of the 10th and final stage of this edition.

Mouhcine Kouraji, who won the first and fifth stages, managed to keep his yellow jersey from the start of this round, while his compatriot Driss Alouani, winner of the eighth stage, won the best young person’s jersey. In the general team rankings, Morocco, crowned champion of this international tour in 2002, 2007, 2009, 2015 and 2017, occupied first place ahead of Russia. The national team is made up of Mouhcine Kouraji, Driss Alouani, Adil Arbaoui, Ibrahim Sabbahi, El Houçaine Sabbahi and Mehdi Arbaoui, under the leadership of national manager Mouhcine Lahssaini, winner of this Tour in 2015.
Participants in the 35th Tour du Faso covered a total of 1193.8 km spread over 10 stages, the shortest of which is the 5th (85.5km), while the longest is the 9th stage (145.8 km).
