Novak Djokovic announced on Tuesday on his social networks that he was withdrawing from the ATP Masters which will take place from November 10 to 17 in Turin.
Season over. In a message published on social networks, Novak Djokovic announced his withdrawal from the ATP Finals (November 10-17), of which he is the defending champion and seven-time winner. The 37-year-old Serbian, who had already skipped the Masters 1000 at Paris-Bercy, claims to be injured.
“It’s an honor to qualify for the ATP Finals in Turin. I was really looking forward to it, but due to a lingering injury I won’t be playing next week. Apologies to those who had planned to see me”, wrote the world number five on Instagram, Tuesday November 5, without giving details on the nature of the injury.
No ATP title this season
Novak Djokovic occupies 6th place in “The Race”, the annual ATP ranking which determines the eight participants in the Masters. The tournament will therefore take place with, in qualifying order, Jannik Sinner, Alexander Zverev, Carlos Alcaraz, Daniil Medvedev, Taylor Fritz, Casper Ruud, Alex de Minaur and Andrey Rublev.
For “Nole”, the year 2024 resembled that of the transfer of power with Sinner and Alcaraz, even if it will remain for him above all that of his Olympic title at the 2024 J0 in Paris. Djokovic did not win an ATP tournament this year, for the first time since 2006.
