Paris, France – The German Alexander Zverev seized second place, at the expense of the Spaniard Carlos Alcaraz, in the ATP ranking published Monday and still dominated by the Italian Janik Sinner.
Zverev, who won his seventh Masters 1000 on Sunday in Paris, had reached this runner-up place for the first time in June 2022, but a serious ankle injury suffered at Roland-Garros then forced him to withdraw from the rest of the season.
For his part, the Russian Daniil Medvedev overtook the Serbian Novak Djokovic to establish himself at 4th place in the world.
The Norwegian Casper Ruud, 7th (+1), and the Australian Alex de Minaur, 8th (+2), replaced the Russian Andrey Rublev, 9th (-2), and the Bulgarian Grigor Dimitrov, 10th (-1) .
The Dane Holger Rune, 11th (+2), supplanted the Greek Stefanos Tsitsipas, 12th (-1), and the American Tommy Paul, 13th (-1).
Beaten in the final in Paris by Zverev, Frenchman Ugo Humbert, 26, gained four places to move up to 14th position.
The Russian Karen Khachanov, 19th (+2), returns to the top-20.
At 30, Australian Jordan Thompson, also 5th in the world in doubles, obtained the best ranking of his career in singles, at 26th position: he moved up two places thanks to his quarter-final in Paris.
Félix Auger-Aliassime remains the highest ranked Canadian after dropping one place, to 28th. Denis Shapovalov and Gabriel Diallo follow at 78th and 88th respectively.
