A big change at Anderlecht under Olivier Renard? – All football

David Hubert is no longer subject to the strict rules previously imposed by Jesper Fredberg. As new sports director, Olivier Renard will not interfere in the composition choices of his coach.

Olivier Renard faces a big challenge as Anderlecht’s new sporting director. After the departure of Jesper Fredberg, Renard’s mission is to revitalize the club’s recruitment unit.

Fredberg tended to recruit mainly players from his own network, mostly well-known Scandinavians or Belgians, which limited the diversity of talent available and often marginalized the recruiting unit. Renard wants to restructure and strengthen this system so that Anderlecht can build a broader and more varied player profile in the future. Without saying a name

More freedom

Playstyle is another aspect that Renard wants to adapt. Under Fredberg, a 4-3-3 formation was favored, but this strategy showed limits, especially for the attackers. The attacking options lacked dynamism, and players like Kasper Dolberg found themselves isolated, without sufficient support on the wings.

Renard plans to abandon this rigid approach and give more freedom to the coach, David Hubert, to choose the formation. A more flexible system, such as a 4-4-2 or a 4-2-2-2, could better match the qualities of the current squad.
