Zurich and Young Boys neutralize each other

There was no winner in the clash between Zurich and Young Boys (0-0) on Saturday in the Super League.

Co-leader before this 13th day tied with FCZ, Servette will therefore have the opportunity to regain the lead in the ranking alone in the event of success on Sunday in Lausanne.

Zurich maintains its 12-point lead over defending champion YB, who was content to defend on Saturday evening at the Letzigrund. But there was better to do for the players of coach Ricardo Moniz. And this well before finding themselves in numerical superiority after the expulsion of Joël Monteiro in the 79th minute.

YB’s Valais striker was penalized for throwing one of his shoes, which accidentally landed on Mirlind Kryeziu. He thus expressed his frustration after a contentious action in which he felt he had been the victim of a foul in the penalty area.

Eleven against ten, Zurich was more enterprising. Saved by his crossbar from a free kick from Mounir Chouiar (43rd), David von Ballmoos, however, only had one save to make in the ‘money time’. And his parade in the 89th on a pricked header armed at point blank range by Juan Perea was decisive.

Basel crushes Winti 5-0

The second match played early in the evening saw Basel crush bottom side Winterthur 5-0. The Rhinelanders, beaten by YB at Wankdorf on Wednesday, reacted perfectly by picking up a fourth success in their last five league matches. This good series allows them to be in 3rd place, three lengths behind Zurich.

FCB made the difference thanks to its young attackers. Anton Kade (20 years old) opened the scoring in the 14th with an assist from Bénie Traoré (21 years old), author of the 2-0 (28th) then the 4-0 (55th). Xherdan Shaqiri participated in the party by signing the decisive pass on the 3-0 scored in the 39th minute by Kevin Carlos (23 years old).
