The ordinary general information meeting of the Senegalese Basketball Federation took place this Saturday, November 2, 2024 in a local hotel. This meeting focused on the financial report for the 2022-2023 season.
The president of the Senegalese Basketball Federation, Me Babacar Ndiaye, spoke at the microphone of Wiwsport about the financial report for the 2022-2023 season which was adopted without difficulty: “The clubs came massively: there are approximately more than 95 clubs out of 117 that were there. The reports were adopted without difficulty. The atmosphere was good. Questions were asked, but in a good atmosphere. I think that’s what shows that the basketball family is a united family beyond what people say. Today, I myself wanted journalists to attend the ceremony to see with their own eyes how the assembly was going to take place. We are very satisfied. When you manage the account of several people, you have the obligation at the end of the season to come and report: that is what was done. »
Before continuing: “The Federation has made a commitment to organize the national youth tournament. Now, as far as the training of the small category is concerned, it is a real problem, but it is delegated to the league level. Because the training of the small category is the responsibility of the leagues, the organization of the small category competitions. But the problem that was raised today is that the leagues do not have enough resources to organize competitions for the small category. The idea now is to ensure that the Federation can grant subsidies to the different leagues to enable them to organize competitions. We are in the process of discussing with a sponsor to put a section which will concern the championship and this section will generate funding which will perhaps be used to allow the Federation to subsidize the clubs, the leagues in order to enable them to “execute their mission,” underlines the former boss of Dakar Université Club.
