Togo eliminates Benin, Senegal and Madagascar know their opponent

On the eve of the close of the first preliminary round of the 2024 African Nations Championship (CHAN), the lineup for the second round is practically known.

Saturday, the Togo (UFOA B) and Eswatini (COSAFA) validated their ticket at the expense of Benign and Zimbabwe respectively, a week after taking a first leg option thanks to first leg victories 2-0 and 0-3. At the Felicia in Abidjan, Ivory Coast, the Eperviers A’ only needed a draw (1-1), while the Eswatiniens won again 1-0 in Mbombela, Africa South.

They join Rwanda (CECAFA), overthrowing Thursday in Kigali against Djibouti (3-0) after losing by a goal in the first leg (1-0), as well as the Liberia (UFOA A). Winners of Sierra Leone (1-2) five days earlier at the Samuel Kanyon Doe Sports Complex in Monrovia, the Lone Stars in fact snatched a draw (1-1) on the same pitch.

Liberia against Senegal, Eswatini against Madagascar

The Togolese will now meet Niger for a place in the final phase, while the Eswatini will meet Madagascar. Rwanda will challenge the winner of the double confrontation between South Sudan and Kenya, which will deliver its verdict on Sunday with the return match on Sunday in Kampala. The South Sudanese are in a favorable tie, on the strength of their 2-0 triumph in the first leg. Liberia will face the defending champion, the Senegalexempt from the first round.
