Borussia Dortmund managed to reverse the trend to inflict RB Leipzig with their first defeat of the season in the Bundesliga on Saturday evening (2-1).
Decimated by injuries, in crisis and led by the score against the run of play, the BVB played in particular without Gregor Kobel, injured in the hip and one thigh.
With this victory won at home in their Westfalenstadion, Nuri Sahin’s men put an end to a series of three defeats away from their base: in Madrid against Real (5-2 after leading 2-0), in Augsburg in the league ( 2-1) and to Wolfsburg in the Cup (1-0 after extra time).
RB Leipzig remains at 20 points and sees Bayern Munich escape alone at the top of the standings with 23 units after their home victory against Union Berlin (3-0, with a double from Kane). The BVB, for its part, is up to Granit Xhaka’s Bayer Leverkusen, held in check by Stuttgart on Friday (0-0), with 16 points and already seven points behind Bayern.
Leipzig opened the scoring through Benjamin Cesko in the 27th minute, but Dortmund equalized three minutes later thanks to Maximilian Beier. Peter Gulacsi, Leipzig goalkeeper, repelled Dortmund’s attempts for a long time, but had to give in to a header from Serhou Guirassy (65th).
