Mika Godts is undoubtedly one of the greatest Belgian talents. This season, the young 19-year-old left winger has become an indisputable starter at Ajax Amsterdam.
Thanks to his good performances and the little competition he may have on the left flank, Godts benefits from all the confidence of his coach Francesco Farioli.
Last weekend, Ajax won “De Klassieker” against Feyenoord Rotterdam (0-2). Holder, Godts did not score or deliver an assist, but he is still to be credited with a very good match.
The Imp is, however, aware that he must improve greatly: “I’ve been playing pretty well since the start of the season, but I need to learn to finish my chances better.”
Great confidence in him
The one nicknamed the “Belgian Neymar” wants to make an impression: “My plan is very clear. I want to scare opposing defenses, score goals and deliver assists. I know that a lot is expected of me, but “That’s always the case when you play at a big club like Ajax.”
This winter, the Dutch club should recruit a new left winger to bring some competition to Godts but that does not worry the former Genk player: “It is good for the coach to have several options at his disposal. For the moment, I’m taking advantage of the playing time I’m given to show myself. I want to play as much as possible, but it will be up to the coach to make his choices.
His statistics
Since the start of the season, Godts has scored 4 goals and provided 5 assists in 17 appearances.
