The sky falls on Cutter Gauthier’s head

Cutter Gauthier, this supposed “natural scorer”, is showing us that he is not the dream player we expected.

After making his little scene in Philadelphia – the man refused to sign with the Flyers, despite the team that had drafted him – he found refuge with the Anaheim Ducks.

But since then, it’s been total nothingness. Not a single goal, no performance that lived up to expectations.

We were expecting a miracle, and we found ourselves with dead weight.

Gauthier probably thought he was going to land in California and blow up everything in his path.

But for now, the sky above his head is getting darker. The pressure is mounting, and rightly so: we are talking here about a player who, in addition to still not having found the back of the net, is accumulating costly turnovers.

The most recent, and perhaps the most egregious, took place last night against the Pittsburgh Penguins.

In overtime, while everything was being decided on the ice, Gauthier offered a golden turnaround to the Penguins, who only had to use themselves to snatch the victory.

For a so-called natural marker, it lacks polish, right?

This young man thought he could imitate Adam Fox by refusing to sign with the team that drafted him.

But where Fox managed to prove that he deserved to have the red carpet rolled out for him with the Rangers, Gauthier proved nothing at all.

Worse still, he seems a prisoner of his own ego.

The reality is that the NHL is unforgiving. You can’t show up with a diva attitude without paying the price.

For those who would like to admire the extent of his disaster, here is the video of his famous turnaround in overtime:

The Ducks were counting on Gauthier to strengthen their offensive line, but for now, he is only weakening them.

Ironically, Philadelphia, by letting him slip away, seems to have dodged a bullet.

Maybe they saw the signs: a head a little too big for his skates and an inability to concentrate on what’s important.

This tendency to think of himself before the team is costing him dearly, and it’s costing the Ducks even more dearly.

At this rate, Gauthier will discover that the NHL has no room for whims.

If you don’t deliver, you get out, simple as that.

And if his sky already seems to be falling, he only has to look in the mirror to understand why.

Misery…
