Ruben Amorim, currently at Sporting Portugal, has been appointed Manchester United coach until June 2027, with an additional year optional. The Portuguese will replace Erik ten Hag, who was dismissed on Monday.

Between now and November 11, Amorim should cover Sporting Portugal’s last three matches before the international break, including the Champions League clash against Manchester City. He could manage his first match with Manchester United when they travel to Ipswich on November 24.
As a young coach, he won a first League Cup with Braga in 2020, before exploding the following season at the head of Sporting, achieving the League Cup-championship double in 2021. He once again enabled the Lisbon club to win a new championship last season in 2024.
