“It wasn’t worthy of Anderlecht”: this former Red Devil severely criticizes the Mauves after their defeat – All football

Anderlecht collapsed collectively at the Jan Breydelstadion, without any player managing to lift the team. Former Red Devil Marc Degryse returned to this defeat of the Mauves.

David Hubert failed to score points this time with his tactical setup, and Anderlecht was simply overwhelmed: “I had the impression that David Hubert had to intervene at half-time with two or three changes. He waited another quarter of an hour,” Degryse points out in The Latest News.

Anderlecht’s midfield collapsed against the dominance of Vanaken, Jashari and Onyedika. But it was Dendoncker above all who aroused Degryse’s frustration: “In defense… My friends, Dendoncker! It was a new low point for him and for Anderlecht.”

Degryse wonders about the lack of enthusiasm of Dendoncker, supposed to be a leader: “I don’t understand his difficulties, but to see so little enthusiasm from a captain is striking. He sank with the rest of the team. His contribution to construction was catastrophic.”

It was not worthy of Anderlecht

Dendoncker, supposed to motivate the younger players, was the first to lower his head: “He lacked so much energy. Even his interview after the match, where he admitted that the Club had more motivation and edge, was painful. This was not worthy of Anderlecht.”

For Degryse, Anderlecht must abandon this protective attitude towards its young people: “Verschaeren is in his seventh professional season. He is no longer a beginner. This tendency to disappear and be so absent comes back too often. Leoni, same thing. We don’t cannot continue to cover them under the pretext that they are club players. Anderlecht must be more demanding. The bar is set far too low.
