Author of a better start, Max Verstappen took the lead for the first few kilometers but Sainz regained his position by overtaking the Dutchman at the first corner. The future Williams driver would then go solo despite the return of Lando Norris.
The Briton took 2nd place at 4.705 seconds. The Briton took advantage of a gap from Charles Leclerc (Ferrari) in the final laps of the race to take the silver medal.
Norris is doing a good job in the championship since he takes 10 points from Verstappen. The Red Bull driver took sixth overall after receiving a 20-second penalty for twice taking Norris out of bounds.
Leclerc completed the podium after stopping late in the race to set the fastest lap. Thanks to this double podium, Ferrari overtakes Red Bull in the constructors’ standings.
The race was also marked by a fierce fight between the Mercedes drivers. Lewis Hamilton gained the upper hand in the final kilometers over George Russell to gain fourth place, Russell having to deal with half a mustache less.
Seventh position for Kevin Magnussen (Haas) ahead of Oscar Piastri (McLaren), who came out of nowhere. Pierre Gasly takes the point of tenth place for Alpine.
The drivers will meet next weekend in Sao Paulo for the Brazilian Grand Prix.
