This Sunday, October 27 marks the symbolic date of 1000 days before the Pacific Games in Polynesia. It will be in July 2027. To mark the occasion, the Games committee organized the event “A Fano mai, A ti’a” at Pointe Vénus.
Promoting sporting activity is also one of the objectives of the day. From 1 p.m., the public was invited to participate in the various football tournaments, beach volleyball tournaments or even this introductory wrestling workshop, a discipline that is just waiting to become known in fenua.
“We highlight the rules of judo by doing sumo, wrestling“, explains one of the young participants. Not far away, a young man who also enjoys playing football on the sand even if he regrets losing. “It’s good that they organize a day like this, we can have fun“.
On the organizational side, everyone is busy before the arrival of the officials. Here we attach the flags of the 24 competing countries for a mini-nautical parade.
“The objective of this afternoon is to show that the 2027 Games are approaching, it is in 1000 days, which is why we called this event J-1000. In the end, it is to warn the population that we are preparing for the Games and that we would like them to also take part in our preparation and know a little about the Pacific Games.”
