Partygoers prosecuted for organizing a clandestine party on a stationary barge

The Maritime Transport Service filed a complaint against young people after an intrusion on a barge at anchor. Indeed, the theft of equipment was reportedly reported following this clandestine evening dating from February 16.

Who has never dreamed of partying one evening under the stars on a barge at anchor? They did it, at a time when all of Mayotte was paralyzed by dams. But today they find themselves being prosecuted for theft and trespassing. The complaint dates from February 26. On the report, we discover the following facts.

In the early morning of February 17, the crew, made up of eight members, arrived to resume duty and discovered six people sleeping on board. These intruders, three men and three women approximately 20 to 25 years old, appear to have hosted a party on the Pole barge. It had been at a standstill for four days following blockades by the forces.

Bottles and meal packaging were found on site. The crew members ask them to leave the area. The six individuals set off again in a kayak, without being insolent, explains the STM manager who made the complaint.

After their departure, the crew noticed the disappearance of four VHF radios, three yellow and one black. These radios, highly sought after in the marine environment, can cost up to 500 euros each. Although the intruders did not cause any damage, the boat appears to have been searched. The complainant specifies that this is the first time that such events have occurred. He thinks he recognized a gendarme among the intruders. But he suspects that other people took advantage of the party to commit the theft.

A video filmed by the crew shows the individuals as they depart. She is in the hands of the police. The STM hopes to clarify this matter.
