NFL: The Jaguars roar in London (football)

A catastrophic end to the first half for the New England Patriots led to their loss as the Jacksonville Jaguars won 32-16 on Sunday at Wembley Stadium in London.

The Pats (1-6) started the game strong, taking the lead in the first offensive sequence when Drake Maye joined JaMycal Hasty on 16 yards for the major. On its second sequence, New England offered itself a field goal to increase its priority to 10.

It was afterward that the Jags (2-5) got going. They scored three touchdowns in a span of 8 minutes. Trevor Lawrence first connected with Brian Thomas for the six-yard touchdown. Tank Bigsby then crossed the goal line on the ground on the next sequence.

It was ultimately Parker Washington who delivered the big blow with a 97-yard punt return in the final minutes of the second quarter. After the two-point conversion, the score was 22 to 10.

Cam Little added a 21-yard field goal early in the third, then the Patriots came alive in the fourthe quarter with a 94-yard drive that ended with Maye’s touchdown pass to KJ Osborn, but it was too little too late.

Tank Bigbsy and D’Ernest Johnson then took charge to run down the clock at the end of the match, notably with 19 running plays in a row. Bigsby completed the scoring with his second rushing touchdown late in the game.

The running back, who got a bigger role in the absence of Travis Etienne, finished the game with 26 carries for 118 yards and two touchdowns.

Trevor Lawrence didn’t have to do too much with a Jaguars ground game that produced 171 yards. Lawrence finished the game with 193 yards and a touchdown, but above all a pass completion percentage of 75%.

On the other side, Drake Maye was busier with 37 passes attempted which found takers 26 times for gains of 276 yards. He also suffered two quarterback sacks.

The Pats ground attack was lively with a meager 38 yards on 15 carries, including 15 obtained on a Maye fumble. Jacksonville therefore leaves London with a 1-1 record after suffering a 35-16 loss. against the Chicago Bears last week. The Jaguars will return to Jacksonville next Sunday to host the Green Bay Packers. For their part, the Patriots will host the New York Jets in Foxborough, also at 1 p.m. Sunday.
