the Sharks have no choice in recalling him

The Sharks sent Yaroslav Askarov to the American League after training camp.

But after seeing him play only two matches, we understand that he has no business there.

Why do I say that? Because the goalkeeper, in his first two meetings with the San José Barracuda, did not allow a single goal.

You read that right: Yaroslav Askarov is perfect so far.

He stopped all 22 shots aimed at him in his first start with the Sharks’ farm club and yesterday, he stopped all 26 shots allowed by his team to record a second shutout in as many games.

Here’s what I’m getting at, then: the Sharks have no choice in recalling the goaltender… unless they want to send him a message. #BadAttitude

He’s too good for the American League, after all:

We expected a difficult season for the Sharks and that’s what’s happening right now.

The club has not yet won this season in five games (0-3-2 record) and, at the time of writing, it is in penultimate place in the general classification of the National League. .

On one hand, some will argue that the Sharks are better off leaving Askarov in the AHL because the Sharks don’t have the club to support him.

But on the other hand, the Sharks need to give their best youngsters an opportunity like they did with Will Smith and Macklin Celebrini.

Askarov may dominate the American League, but he won’t improve if he plays at a lower caliber. It is by playing with the big boys and it is by receiving shots from the best players on the planet that he will be able to progress because at the moment, he has nothing more to learn down there.

Let us note in closing that the goalkeeper was transferred to the minors due to an injury in camp.

That said, he seems to have recovered from his boo-boo and it’s time for the Sharks to trust him. I am convinced that he would offer a better performance than Vitek Vanecek or Mackenzie Blackwood, two guys who are (really) struggling so far:

– The results must start to be there, for example…

– And that’s a good thing.

– Oh, no. Hard blow for the Seahawks.
