medal assured for the Lebrun brothers at the European Championships

Alexis Lebrun and Félix Lebrun qualified this Saturday for the semi-finals of the European Championships in Linz (Austria). They secured a bronze medal in doubles.

Alexis and Félix Lebrun secured a bronze medal in doubles on Saturday at the European Championships in Linz, beating in the quarter-finals the pair made up of the Belgian Cédric Nuytinck and the Slovak Lubomir Pistej three sets to zero. Seed N.1 in Austria, the French pair can obviously hope even higher in the event of victory in the semi-final in the afternoon.

Facing the Belgian and Slovak pair, the two star brothers of French table tennis were not in great difficulty, and quickly took cover to finally win 11-6, 11-7, 11-2. On a day where they could play up to four matches each, Félix and Alexis Lebrun will quickly continue with their round of 16 in singles. Alexis will face the Pole Milosz Redzimski (66th in the world) at 1:10 p.m., before Félix faces the German Andre Bertelsmeier (135th).

A little earlier in the morning, the French Nina Guo Zheng and Leana Hochart, only 14 and 16 years old, stopped short of the semi-finals, beaten 3-0 (5-11, 6-11, 14-12) by the Serbian pair Izabela Lupulesku and Sabina Surjan (102nd in the world).
