The president of the Greens Lisa Mazzone, meeting in an assembly of delegates on Saturday in Herisau (AR), believes that this legislature will be that of referendums. “We will have to work with the people to put an end to the worst ideological excesses of the right-wing majority,” she said.

The Geneva resident describes the situation as “serious”. While climate protection and equal opportunities are being cut, military spending is increasing, she told delegates, according to the written version of her speech.

According to her, the finances of the Confederation are in good shape. The Federal Council’s savings program in nurseries, night trains, public transport, energy renovation of buildings, higher education institutions, AVS and development is a partisan, retrograde, isolationist and ideological project, considers the president of the Greens.

This project ignores the major challenges of the moment. It imposes a step backwards wherever society has progressed. The Greens will fight this savings package with determination. On the nuclear issue, they planned to adopt a resolution.

The party will also adopt its slogans for the Young Greens initiative submitted to the people on February 25 on environmental responsibility. The text calls for an economy respecting planetary limits within 10 years.
