Two former Pro League coaches removed from the list, Brian Riemer closer and closer to becoming coach – All football

Brian Riemer has returned to Denmark since his dismissal at Anderlecht. He could also take charge of the national team.

The news came as a surprise a few days ago: barely dismissed by Anderlecht, Brian Riemer is one of the main candidates to succeed Kasper Hjulmand, who had been at the head of the team for four years.

The Bold media informs us that Riemer is among the last two candidates. Names such as Thomas Frank (former Riemer mentor), Brian Priske (ex-Antwerp), Jess Thorup (ex-Genk, Gent), Bo Svensson and Bo Henriksen were considered but are under contract with one club and will not be not poached for financial reasons.

A decision expected fairly quickly

So Riemer’s last competitor for the position is none other than Lars Knudsen, who took charge of the team on an interim basis. Under his command, the team conceded only one defeat in four matches (1-0 against Spain), with victories against Serbia and Switzerland.

The 47-year-old coach is also on the staff of…Jess Thorup in Augsburg. Previously, he also worked at Aalborg, Midtjylland, Leicester, in the American national team and in charge of the Danish youth teams but never managed a first team.

Thanks to his time at Anderlecht, Brian Riemer also knows part of the core. But the federation will quickly have to decide to prepare the qualifications for the 2026 World Cup.
