Brendan Gallagher at the heart of the crisis: supporters don’t want to know anything

Two small defeats in a row, and it’s a disaster in Montreal.

Guess that’s enough to make everyone lose their minds.

However, if we take a step back, it’s just two defeats, but some will push further by saying: “Hey, that’s four defeats in six games!”

It all depends on how you want to see things, right?

On one side or the other, Martin St-Louis is taking all the pressure, while the fans are looking for someone to blame.

Because it’s well known that in Montreal, everything is fine when you win, but as soon as you stumble, even just a little, the world starts to panic as if the season was already over.

But let’s be honest, it’s not easy to talk about positives when things are going badly.

Nobody wants to hear that. The world wants to see victories, to feel the excitement of a goal in overtime, not to be told that “it wasn’t that bad!” And that’s understandable.

We watch hockey to forget our worries, to vibrate with the team, not to be consoled.

However, there is one player who defies this dark cloud that hangs over Montreal: Brendan Gallagher. Yes, the very one we thought was finished, at the end of the day.

At 32, when many saw his best years behind him, Gallagher proves that he still has it in his stomach.

Two goals in five games seems modest, but he leads the entire NHL in shots from the slot with 14 shots. And that, my friends, is no coincidence. Gallagher is a guy who rushes headlong where it hurts, always ready to bother the goalkeeper, and it shows in his statistics.

In fact, this revival started well before this season.

Since the end of the last campaign, Gallagher has shown that he has never really lost his bearings. Since April 15, he is quite simply the Canadian’s top scorer with six points in seven games, tied with Caufield and Slafkovsky.

And to think that just a few months ago, we were wondering if he would be able to regain his form after all his injuries.

What’s impressive is that despite all this, Gallagher continues to fight.

You would think that after all the pitfalls he has overcome, he would start to slow down. But no, it’s quite the opposite.

Brendan is still that relentless player, the one who will stop at nothing. Even when the rest of the team seems to be faltering, he stays the course, ready to give everything he has.

So yes, Montreal is panicking, yes, two small defeats (or four in six, depending on perspective) are enough to light a bush fire. But if you look closer, there is something beautiful about it. Brendan Gallagher, the veteran we no longer expected, is showing everyone that he never really lost his flame.

As long as he is on the ice, the CH still has a chance to turn things around, no matter what the critics say.

Amen
