THE LIONESS WILL PLAY AGAINST TANZANIA AND MOROCCO

The Senegal women’s national team will play two friendly matches against Tanzania and Morocco, on October 27 and 29, in Casablanca, we learned from the Senegalese Football Federation (FSF). Senegal’s match against Tanzania’s Taifas Stars is scheduled for October 27 at 5:00 p.m. GMT. The Senegalese team will then meet the Lionesses of the Atlas on October 29, from 7:00 p.m. GMT. Last July, Senegal beat the Democratic Republic of Congo twice in friendly matches played at the Lat-Dior stadium in Thiès.

These friendly matches are part of the Senegalese team’s preparation for the African Cup of Nations (CAN) scheduled for July 5 to 26, 2025 in Morocco. The Lionesses will take part in a final phase of the CAN for the third time, after those of 2012 in Equatorial Guinea and 2022 in Morocco. During the last edition, in 2022, the Senegalese team was eliminated from the quarter-finals by Zambia, by 4 penalties to 2.

South Africa holds the women’s football CAN trophy. CAN 2024, initially scheduled for last June, was postponed to 2025 due to the women’s football tournament at the Olympic Games, which took place in last July and August. Twelve teams will take part in the 15th edition of the competition planned for Morocco, which will host the African Women’s Cup of Nations for a second time. The Confederation of African Football has organized this competition since 1991.

Nigeria is the most successful nation with 11 trophies (1991, 1995, 1998, 2000, 2002, 2004, 2006, 2010, 2014, 2016 and 2018). Equatorial Guinea has won the continental trophy twice (2008 and 2012)
